Bosch will extend investments to Cluj
The main objectives of the German concern Bosch are creating jobs, contributing to sustainable development and expanding and investing in research and development.
In 2011, Bosch spent more than 4 billion euros on research and development. As of January 1, 2012, the company employed some 39,000 associates in R&D. This is approximately 4,500 more than in the previous year. In Asia Pacific alone, more than 2,500 new R&D associates joined the company; therefore Bosch will expand its activities in this region in 2012. The highest support will be allocated to China and India, especially in the automotive technology sector.
The company also will expand its presence in Eastern Europe. The German corporation counted a total of 1,100 employees in Bucharest, Blaj and Timisoara at the beginning of 2011.
For 2012 Bosch plans to extend its activity to the Cluj area where 215,000 square meters will be leased. The total amount of the investment sums to nearly 77 million euros, part of which will be supported by the Romanian Government. The company estimates that more than 300 new jobs will be created in a first phase.
The Cluj City Council representatives have stated that, on the 17th of February, Bosch will sign a contract with the Industrial Park Tetarom III, in the town of Jucu for the investment. Production will begin later this year.
Meanwhile, Bosch is also expanding its business sectors. One example is the area of renewable energy.
The Bosch Group is intensifying its activities in areas of importance for the company's future, such as electromobility and the internet of things and services. The company spends some 400 million euros each year on electromobility. By 2013, it is expected that 21 projects for hybrid and all-electric power trains will go into series production at 13 automakers.
Bosch also supplies electrical drives for bicycles and in the future for e-scooters as well. Having sold more than 70,000 drive systems for 30 different bicycle makes in 2011, the company has got off to a successful start in this market.
