The event which took place in Bucharest during 1-5 October 2016 was organized by the Agency of the European Commission in Romania, together with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration and the European Commission – DG REGIO (Directorate General Regional Policy). The main topic was the urban agenda within the EU, focusing mainly on circular economy – a model, which combines sustainable development with eco-design, while still protecting the natural resources and supporting creative recoveries.
Econet partner, Environ at Urban FEST
Environ’s attendance at the Agora of Responsible Consumption challenged the visitors to participate in games and competitions structured around the idea of recycling electrical products.
Participants of all ages had the opportunity to try out and download apps created by Environ with the intent to promote recycling and reusability: a map which facilitates the access to the closest collection points and a game for children, Baterel’s adventures. Once again, Environ proved its constant engagement in informing and educating the citizens regarding the European Commission’s programs and the benefits of circular economy, permanently attempting a behavioral change in this area towards a more sustainable approach on resources and a limitation of uncontrolled waste.
AHK Romania also took advantage of this opportunity to discuss the topic of sustainable city development with European and national experts in the context of Urban FEST. Among the special guests, there was the vice-mayor of Mannheim, Germany, Christian Specht.
AHK Romania supports initiatives of this type and is strongly engaged in this field.
